A Message from our Founder, Rob Berk

Back in the late 60's and early 70's when I was attending Junior High and High School in NE Ohio, "garage bands." were very popular, and live music was a huge part of our social life. “Garage Band” was a that term that referred to young musicians who would get together to rehearse and play popular music of the day and sometimes create their own original songs!
My fondest memory goes back to my junior high days when a band called "The Reason" played at school events and even at parties held in our homes. The band included Warren’s own Pat Aulizia - a drummer who later went on to join Moms Apple Pie (a nationally known recording group!) Other local bands that hit the big time included Glass Harp, The Human Beingz, Left End, and The Shaddows to name just a few. The list of great musicians and bands from our area goes on and on.
My goal with “Valley Artist Showcase” is to uncover today's young musical talents and give them an opportunity to perform live, get some public exposure, and take the next steps with their musical goals! This competition is open to all applicants - if you are between the ages of 14 - 22.
So, get your friends together, practice your hearts out and audition at DownBeat Musical Arts Centre. Entry forms can be found here!
Good Luck, and let’s turn your dreams into reality!
